Story

My name is Paul Liell from Fairwater Garage, and we are raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.

In 2019 over 850,000 people aged 65 and over in the UK had dementia and by 2040, there will be over 1.5 million people with dementia in the UK. 5 in every 100 people with Alzheimer’s disease are under 65.

A friend of mine has just received this terrible diagnosis and not only has it had a massive impact on them but also on all those close to them. Many of you will know someone who is also suffering.

My wife Claire and her friend Richard Thomas are running the London Marathon in April 2024, and we are looking to raise as much money as possible to support Alzheimer’s Research UK for a cure.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your support!

Best wishes

Club Gardens

We are hoping to form a gardening group to look after the flower and shrub borders surrounding the Green, so they can be enjoyed next season by all who enter the Club gates.
10.30am on Tuesday, 21st November there will be a short meeting to look at the areas that need attention during the winter and spring. If you are able to do gardening such as weeding/shrub pruning and willing to give a little time please do come along or let us know of your interest.

If gardening really isn’t for you there are many other essential tasks that the Club relies on volunteers to do, be it bar duties, maintenance, green keeping or cleaning. All roles are important in helping the Club to function and keep membership costs affordable.

Please get in touch if there is a skill or interest you have and we can find a voluntary task to suit your availability!

Electric Fence

There is a temporary electric fence surrounding the outdoor green. This is in an effort to reduce further damage to the green by foxes. Warning signs are displayed on the fence, please do not ignore them.
Members will have received an email, but it would be appreciated if you could pass the word around to those you know who do not use email or this Website.

2023 Presentation Lunch Photos are now showing in the Gallery.

If anyone has other photos they would like added or see any already added they would prefer to be removed please let Paula or Jim know.

Green Closure & Laying Indoor Carpet

The green will close from sunset Saturday the 23rd of the month and the indoor carpet will be laid Sunday morning.

Looking for a few volunteers to help put the green to bed and remove most of the tables and chairs from the clubhouse.

The ditch liners need to be turned over and the benches placed under cover in the Joan Hazelton area.

Most tables and chairs to be moved from clubhouse into visitors changing rooms.

Meeting at around 10.00 am Sunday the 24th and normally takes about an hour.
