Club Luncheon and Presentation of Trophies

Club members and friends came together to celebrate the end of the 2025 Outdoor Bowling Season with a luncheon at the Batch Country House, Lympsham. Festive Jumpers were the optional attire of the day which matched the Christmas menu.
Trophies were presented by outgoing Presidents Sylvia Lupton and Bob Brown to those who achieved success in competitions throughout the season.
Thanks go to Vince Ford and Jean Hills for organising the competitions and to all those who entered into the spirit of the games, had fun and were happy to win or come a close second!
A raffle was held which was generosity supported by donations of prizes and the sale of so many tickets. Jean may not have won a trophy this year, but she made up for it in the raffle!
Thanks are extended to Don and June Bridges for organising the lunch which was a great success.

If you are thinking of joining the Club next season there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved. We offer a variety of competitions at various levels, although some members play purely for fun and relaxation. The Outdoor Season begins mid April 2026 so watch out for more information on this site or on our Facebook page.

Somerset Bowls Association Luncheon & Presentation of Trophies
On 2nd November 2025 at the Batch Country House members from our club attended the annual luncheon along with 270 others. The principal guest was the Chair of Bowls England, David Tucker.
Attendees enjoyed a lovely lunch and some informative speeches. These were followed by the presentation of trophies to bowlers from across the county who had achieved success in various competitions and leagues last season.
Don, with support from June, organised this event, as they have done for several years. The afternoon ran smoothly and Don was commended for his work and June was presented with a bouquet of flowers. The event concluded with a raffle.
Members will be encouraged to participate in county competitions and leagues next season. Details of how to get involved are posted on the SBA website and will be communicated to members when our secretary is advised. There is something for everyone, so let’s see if we can get our club’s name in lights next year!

A Welcome Message from our 2025 Presidents

The outdoor season is now almost with us, following what we understand to have been a highly enjoyable indoor season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have worked so hard to keep things running so smoothly throughout the winter months.
The green will open on Wednesday April 16th with Burnham Mayor and Town Crier doing the honours. There will be a spider, a few ends of bowls and the indoor competition trophy presentations.
Tom, our greenkeeping coordinator and team did a great deal of extra work during the closed season. The details are too much to go into here and, to be honest, we don’t fully understand some of the terms they use anyway! However, we would like to congratulate all those in the team and also Avon Sports for their hard work and for producing what is now a lovely and welcoming green for all our members and visitors to enjoy.

We have a full season ahead of us with opportunities for new members to become involved in all aspects of the game. Let’s just hope that members old and new will all support our selection team by indicating their availability to play games!
The club’s Open Day is Sunday 25th May from 11.00 to 16.00. Please come along to volunteer or just pop in to watch and support the club. There will be a BBQ, Raffle, Tombola plus plenty of other things to do and, of course, the bar will be open.
On behalf of the Management Committee, we sincerely thank you in advance all for your support and we trust you will all have an enjoyable season.
Happy bowling!
Sylvia Lupton and Bob Brown
